Hi. I'm Simon, a senior graphic designer currently gracing Sunday Afternoon with my talent. We're an award-winning branding studio that makes the absolute best sh*t. My CDs are Juan Carlos Pagan, Rich Tu, Ahmed Klink and Jeremy Liebman—talk about learning from the best.
I'm from France. I moved here in 2021. I don't have a thick accent, but I know how to pull it out when it matters. I hold an O-1B visa. I can legally work for any US company and client without any specific paperwork. Good to know if you're considering poaching me.
I have a solid track record of being a personality hire who also happens to have skills. Not far from ideal, when you think about it.
I'm really into music—a fresh and unusual thing to be into—so I spend a lot of my free time designing for my musician and DJ friends. I get paid very little, but so do they, so everything is in order.
I initially trained as a multidisciplinary engineer at Mines Paris PSL, which consistently ranks 2nd best engineering school in France. It's a well-known fact that France makes the best engineers. Not making it to the number one school saved what was left of my humility.
In school I specialized in innovation and entrepreneurship because I wanted to be with the other cool kids building things that make a big splash. I initially approached it from the product design perspective, but got sucked into the beautiful world of coding.
I made my way up the ladder from software engineer to CTO in about 7 years. My roles always included a product management and product design aspect. I also hired and managed people, and thought a lot about how to make everybody work well together. Tough.
At some point my friends and I started a funny clothing company. It was way more successful than it should have been. We panicked and sold it. Ten years later we're still on the homepage. That's how good we look.
This was all well and good, but eventually I had to deal with my unresolved longing for graphic design. It was bound to cost me a fortune in therapy (or any substitute thereof) if I kept avoiding it. I enrolled in the Shillington graphic design program in New York in 2021. It looked hella fun, and I couldn't afford SVA anyway. I loved it and it got me hired. I am now on my way towards graphic design greatness, where I hope to see you.
My engineering background is my secret sauce. Lucid pragmatism, systems thinking, attention to detail, a different perspective on tools and organization, tech-savviness (including the occasional line of code) and other spices I haven't uncovered yet.
I play the guitar and the trumpet. I DJ'd a little in the distant past. I have great taste in music. I like concerts and clubbing. I ride my bike everywhere. Sometimes I go on week-long bikepacking trips. I like surfing, kiteboarding and snowboarding—in that order—and I wish I would do it more.
That's it. Get in touch!
